The method
Why Pilates
Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.
Joseph H. Pilates
In short
Pilates is a very precise and intelligent method of movement. Developed by Joseph Pilates, it is a total-body programme that conditions body, mind and breathing together.
It builds flexibility, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back. It puts the emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, on breathing, and on developing a strong centre — along with better coordination and balance.
Every exercise can be modified, from complete beginner to advanced. Nothing here requires you to already be fit.
